Tidying Your Linen Cupboard
Home from the holidays! After a great summer Christmas holiday and best beach New Year, we are home again. And one of the first things I do at the start of each new year is to de-clutter. So instead of unpacking and putting clothes back into drawers and cupboards, I use the moment to throw out and pass on all the extra stuff it seems so easy to collect over the year. Clothes which I don’t actually need. But someone else might need or want. So having sorted everything and decided what I am going to keep, then I get into the linen cupboard and do the same. I take everything out, check it out, sort it, bag up the linen I no longer need or want (or like!) then re-fold and re-organise the storage.
I just have a plain white linen cupboard – nothing fancy – but it is clean and airy. And clearly I like the linen to be neatly folded and stacked! Some might say obsessive, but I do have few friends who are more OCD than me when it comes to organisation and storage! It probably won’t last long once the children and family have pulled out their beach towels and sheets as they don’t seem to notice these things. But for a brief while I have a huge sense of personal satisfaction and gain some peace at the thought all is sorted and organised.
I have included a picture – not of my cupboard as my linen cupboard is much bigger to accomodate my linen passion! – but I thought it might provide a small inspiration to get your linen sorted and organised for the year ahead. There are plenty of storage containers and ideas for organising your linen, and if you have any suggestions or ideas that work for you, we would love to hear from you! Happy 2017!
