SHOES by DAY: SHEETS by NIGHT

A young man selling absolutely gorgeous shoes, said to me a while ago that the two things we should pamper ourselves with are Shoes and Sheets. Because we spend our days in shoes and our nights in between the sheets. I totally agreed with him and promptly purchased the absolutely beautiful shoes.

Then came home, opened the doors of the linen cupboard and took a really good look at my sheets. 

For many years I have happily bought new shoes. No excuses needed to justify these! But my sheets and bedlinen? Well, over the years I had acquired a random selection of cast-offs, sheets on sale, discount purchases and bargains. Never wanting to spend a cent more than needed, and only buying sheets and bedlinen when I absolutely had to, usually when they had a little hole or were perhaps just a little bit on the grey side of white. So with my new sheet eyes, I decided it was time for a change in my attitude towards bedlinen.

I cast out my mismatches. Removed the old duvets. Threw out the (slightly discoloured) pillows. Said goodbye to my old sheets and bed linen. All the things I had ‘made do with’ over the years.

I haven’t gone mad over new bedlinen. But I have quietly gone about re-stocking my bedlinen cupboard. I now have really nice bedlinen for the children, guests and for ourselves. It is such a pleasure to slip between beautiful sheets, rest my head on feather light pillows, and have that exquisite sensation of lightness as I pull the duvet over me. My bedroom Sanctuary. And it gives me a great pleasure to now work with all these gorgeous bed linens in this business.
